Fishing at Lake Pochard Holiday Lodges
Lake Pochard Holiday Lodges offers fishing for the beginner and the experienced carp angler.
The green lane of the commercial fishery is solely for the use of lodge guests and no prior booking of swims is required.
Lake Pochard is a 11.5 acre lake with Carp to over 40lbs. Fishing is restricted to 8 anglers and guests must check availability before booking to avoid dsappointment.
The red and blue lanes of the commercial fishery are operated by Walters Lake Fishery.
Please note that anyone fishing in fresh water in England and Wales, must have a valid Rod Licence. Rod licences are only available from The Post Office and can be bought online or in person at the Post Office. These will be checked periodically on the bank.
Note to all anglers
As with most lakes in the Cotswold Lakes that have not had pond dye added, Lake Pochard has dense weed from spring to late autumn. Anglers are advised to gear up accordingly with a minimum of 18lb line and adhere to lake rules.
Fishing is not permitted from the lodge bank in front of the lodges.
If you are planning to fish Lake Pochard Lake, please call or email the office before booking your lodge to check the availability of swims. Failure to do so may result in none being available during your stay.
Lake Pochard will be closed if the Carp spawn.
Walters Lake
A purpose built commercial Match Lake that has been established for over 10 years and has now matured into an ideal pleasure and match fishery.
The lake, approximately 4.5 acres and consisting of 3 lanes with a total of 55 pegs, has been designed in such a way that every peg fishes towards an island and hedge planting has divided the pegs into 2’s. Even on very busy days it seems as though you have your own little lake. Please check with which pegs are open for use.
The fish stocks have come on over the years, mostly Carp between 8-14lbs with some fish into higher weights. There is also a good head of Tench to 7lb+, Bream to 8lb+, some lovely Roach and Rudd up to 1½ lb+ and the ever present Perch.
When the Carp go a bit quieter in the winter months, the silver fish have a chance to show themselves more and we have had several match weights of 30-40lbs of Roach and Skimmers, even in the depths of the winter.
All matches must be organised in advanced through the office. The gate will be opened at an agreed time.
Please ensure you are aware of, and comply with the fishing rules for Walters Lake.
Walters Lake Fishery is open under management of South Cerney Angling Club (info@scac.org.uk). Open to members and day tickets are available from The Tackle Den (01285 862716).
SCAC rules apply.
